FOLK DAY 2009

Well the sky was grey and it was not too warm considering it was the longest day, June 21st was not just Fathers Day it was also Reddish Vales Folk Day.

I must admit at first I thought oh please somebody come. As along with the worm charming and good old wellie throwing we were painting pots, making corn dollies, dream catchers, floral head rings (I know there is a proper word for them but can't remember) and card making also the wonderful wood turner was there. So where were the people? I need not have worried as the musicians started to play it was just like the pied piper. How the family from Glossop heard them I will never know.So what started as a

We would also like to say thank you to all the Mums, Dads and children for coming along and making our very first Folk Day what it was A real good day out. As usual Phil was there with his camera, with Dave also clicking away. Can you see yourself ?

As I said this was our first attempt and we are hopefully going to make it an annual event. As the song says things can only get better.

Thank-you All again, and hope to see you next year.

very quiet day turned into a really lovely fun day. I know I was certainly singing along to whisky in the jar. The weather wasn't great but the atmosphere was. I know Rob (him with the hair and playing the violin) wanted to say a big thank-you to all the volunteers.
