Nest Box Cameras

We had two nest box cameras set up around the Vale this year.

The birds seemed reluctant to move in, although there were regular visits from blue tits, great tits and a coal tit was spotted in the nest box.

Nest box one had the start of a nest but was abandoned at an early stage. Nest box two was eventually occupied by a pair of great tits and they were making good progress on their nest,

WHEN !

a mad sparrow decided to claim several nest including nest box two, that's him on the top right. He drove the great tits and any other bird that had a look at the nest boxes away.

Next year we will make the nest box holes smaller, and maybe fatten the sparrow up so he can't get in the nest.
