Pat's Soap Box

The Tame Valley Defence Group has existed for 21 years, ever since the successful Save the Vale Campaign, 1988 for which other selfless people were responsible . My associates and I, who include the Open Spaces Society and the Pedestrian Association, as well as Stockport Heritage are only too aware of the development potential of any open land. We are determined that The Vale, which is more than the 398 acres managed by Stockport Council will remain as an INFORMAL open space for leisure pursuits. I am in constant touch with the councillors and the officers of the council as well as the Vale wardens. I attend meetings and keep up with council policy on the Vale and write and receive numerous letters and e-mails.

Anyone in the Vale can ask me for information and if I don't know what they need to know, I will do my best to find out. We are firmly on the side of the wildlife and of the people who value the wildlife. The Vale is an important area for community living especially in the old-fashioned village sense, out in the open. Meeting people and listening to their views and aspirations helps to support our determination to keep the Vale as a FREE open space for people to enjoy the wildlife, which is our main concern, cycling, walking, riding, fishing and excellent community living.
